mission accomplished

We have all returned safe and sound, with a new perspective and a stronger dedication to helping change the situation for the children in Uganda. It was a successful trip in more ways than I could have ever imagined. As each of us begin now to process what we have experienced and figure out how to incorporate our new "lessons" into daily living, we will do our best to continue sharing with you.

There was quite an entourage assembled to greet us that the KC airport last night. Eddie led the pack with a handmade sign welcoming the team of Change the Truth. There were whoops and hollers as we exited the gate and fell into the arms of moms, dads, kids and spouses. It was very cool. Ann's mother told me that this has been the best Christmas gift ever for their family - the opportunity to benefit from this life changing experience through their daughter.

When I was a camper at Birch Trail in northern Wisconsin in the late 60's, as camp neared the last day, we girls would begin writing what we called "train letters" to pass out to our friends. These were essentially little love letters that were to be read and cried over on the train ride home. As the final day at SMK drew near, we each started to receive notes from some of the children. They came up and shyly slipped them into our hands as we prepared to leave. here is one of my "train letters":

THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT I REALLY LOVE YOU. I WISH YOU A SAFE JOURNEY.

I have so much more to tell you and so many more photos to post, so please stay tuned.
