During my travels, I was influenced, moved, challenged and inspired not only by the people I met, but also by the music I heard, the books I read and the art I saw. It was quite a significant convergence for me to experience.
The book that stirred me deeply was Abraham Verghese's
Cutting For Stone.
One of the exhibitions that had a huge effect on me was "A Visionary Modernist" by Sudanese artist Ibrahim El-Salahi.
When I read the following words by El-Salahi on one of the text panels, I was
stopped in my tracks:
The subjects are looking at and through me, as if trying to remind me, through their perfect silence, of what I had failed to see.
With that, I'd like to share some of my new work. (Please excuse the repeats.)
