shot of the day
I'm snaking my way toward Kentucky to visit my father. Today I stopped in towns like Syracuse and California, Missouri. I made this picture at the beauty shop in Otterville, Missouri.

Everything in this shop stands at the ready, even the broom to whisk up the hair. The clock and the calendar seem to stand still. There she is, waiting, wondering, worrying, watching. Fretful. Look at the strain, her body pitched a bit forward in her glancing outward. Look at the tongue sort of tight in the mouth and on the lip. Look at the play of her image back and forth in the mirror, an infinity of time and space standing there, as she waits.
