There aren't a lot of old people in Uganda. The average life expectancy, after all, is only about 50 years. This lovely man lives behind the orphanage in a small cluster of huts. There are lots of families living there. He and his wife are taken care of by the children and grandchildren. I visit him each year I go. His kind smile and gentle wave sort of sum up the recent love and good will that has been flowing toward our orphaned kids lately.
When I asked his grandson, this past December, how old the man is he looked at me quite seriously and said, "Totally old."
