meet patrick

No, this young man is not one of the students from St. Mary Kevin Orphanage, but his story (and his father's) is truly inspirational. When you have six minutes to spare, watch this! As the mother of a member of a college marching band, it especially warms my heart.

Gloria, thank you for the reminder about this gifted young man. The book about Patrick Henry Hughes's life really made me think about the sacrifices of his family. When Patrick Henry first began with the marching band, for example, the field was pitted and often muddy. A special wheelchair had to be designed. Pushing Patrick and the chair takes incredible strength and stamina. Patrick Henry and his dad make it look effortless, huh?

Another aspect that I hadn't thought about before reading the book was the family's home and the everyday obstacles because Patrick Henry cannot simply bend over and pick up things that are in the way of his chair. We can take so much for granted. I recommend I AM POTENTIAL to anyone interested in more on this story. --KB
